Video Art in Dialogue
The fascination of video art lies in its variety of genres, recording techniques and formats,
content and temporal narratives, perspectives and compositions in the interplay between
moving image, dialogue, sound and music as well as in its different forms of presentation and site-specific installations, in which the audience can circulate.
VIDEO WINDOW is delighted to present, in cooperation with VIA, nine well-known artistic
positions from Zurich and Basel. During three evening events, each position shows a recent
work for discussion in the video studio of the association, which has played an important role
as a nucleus for Swiss video and performance art since the end of the eighties.
The aim of the series of events is to comparatively debate artistic interests, strategies and
forms of expression exemplified by the videos and in a workshop- like dialogue between the
artists, the curator and the public and to jointly discover the multifaceted nature of video art.
Each evening will conclude with the opportunity to continue the discussion and to network
over a plate of pasta at the venue.
